Baked Caramel Apple Tart

I just love the caramel and apple combination in this tart. It is so moist and easy to make. Enjoy warm with whipped cream, ice cream or custard for a desert or cold when you receive guests. Total time to prepare the tart is less than 10 minutes and total baking time approximately 25 minutes.

  • 1 Cup Sugar (250 ml)

  • 40g Margarine or butter

  • 3 Large Eggs

  • 1 Cup Self-Raising Flour

  • 2ml Baking Powder

  • 60ml Milk

  • 1 Can of Pie Apples (Non-sweetened)

For the sauce:

  • 1 Can Ideal Milk

  • 1 Cup Sugar

  • 5ml Caramel Flavoured Essence (if you don't have this, you can use vanilla)

  • Mix the sugar and margarine (butter) together, it won't be creamy but it should be mixed very well.

  • Add the eggs and mix well.

  • Add all the dry ingredients and mix well.

  • Add the 60 ml milk and mix.

  • Cut the apples in smaller pieces and add to the mixture. Mix well. (Do not add the small amount of apple juice that is left over in the can)

  • Prepare your Swift Baker Ring Pan with Non-Stick Spray.

  • Add the mixture to the Ring Pan, place on the Swift Baker Base and cover with the Dome.

  • Turn your gas on to medium heat and bake for approximately 20 to 25 minutes (depending on your heat settings)

  • The tart is ready when a knife comes out clean.

While the tart is baking, prepare the sauce.

  • Heat the Ideal Milk, Sugar and Caramel Essence to boiling point.

  • Boil for approximately 2 minutes.

Once the tart is ready in your Ring Pan, turn off the heat and take the Ring Pan off the base.

Pour the sauce over the tart and allow to stand for about 10 minutes. Don't allow the tart to cool down before you pour the sauce over. The tart will soak up all the sauce. Turn over on a plate and enjoy!
